Oklahoma City is home to many great restaurants that serve hearty burgers. When you get hungry for one, you can choose from a variety of delicious options. Here are some of the best burger places in the area.

When you want a truly great burger, choose Burger Masters. This place serves delicious, handcrafted burgers, and the staff is always friendly. You can pick one of six types of quarter-pound burgers, a half-pound burger, or a black bean veggie burger. The quarter-pound Bacon Bleu burger is particularly popular. It comes with a 100% Angus beef patty, bacon, bleu cheese, mayonnaise, mustard, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, and onions. The black bean burger has a quarter-pound patty, ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, tomatoes, lettuce, onions, and pickles. Other options include grilled and fried chicken sandwiches, chicken tenders, and chicken-fried steak.

The sandwich menu includes a BLT, a Super BLT with an extra stack of bacon, a chicken salad sandwich, a Black Forest ham sandwich, and a mesquite-smoked turkey sandwich. Carb-counting customers can’t get enough of the low-carb cheeseburger and the low-carb chicken breast plate. Kids love the chilly cheese coney, a 100% beef hot dog with onions, relish, ketchup, hearty chili, and mustard.

This restaurant started as a food truck in 2018, and it became a permanent dining establishment in 2020. You can get started with spicy buffalo chicken bites, loaded Mosh Pit Fries, double chili macaroni and cheese, or thrash nachos with a liquid gold cheese sauce, house chili, green chili peppers, and cilantro.

If you feel like an old-school burger, go for the OG Punk with lettuce, pickles, American cheese, and Burger Punk’s house-made Punk Sauce. It’s available with one or two beef patties. The Green Chili Burger comes with American cheese, bacon, house-made ranch dressing, green chilies, and an all-beef patty. For an even hotter burger, try the habanero-pepper-covered Velveeta Underground with liquid gold sauce, fried onion, and an all-beef patty.

A monthly special burger is available as well. Check the menu to see what Burger Punk has thought up lately and try something new the next time you visit. Vegetarians will enjoy the Green Daze burger. It has a Beyond Meat veggie patty, American cheese, lettuce, house dill pickles, and Punk Sauce. Burger Punk also makes a set of wild house cocktails that customers love. Borrowed Nostalgia is one of the best. It comes with a blueberry lavender tincture, Accompani Blue Dorris, Evan Williams 1783 Bourbon, and lavender-honey syrup.

The Havana Affair is an even more interesting option. It has cream, lemon, a house-made brown butter and rum blend, Trader Vic’s macadamia nut liqueur, egg white, and butternut squash and chai syrup. Burger Punk is open Monday through Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and it closes at 11 p.m. Thursday through Saturday. You can also visit on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

New State Burgers & Spirits

Many people call New State Burgers & Spirits the quintessential Oklahoma City burger experience. The cheeseburger comes with premium American cheese, diced pickle, diced red onion, and dijonnaise. Vegetarians can’t get enough of the Beyond Burger with dijonnaise, diced pickle, and diced red onion. The Black Bean Burger is also vegetarian. It comes with a diced pickle and diced red onion.

Finally, the creative Hot Hamburger a la Murphy’s is this restaurant’s most popular burger. It contains Texas toast, two beef patties, cheese, and French fries smothered in brown gravy. The Not Burgers menu includes a BELT, or a bacon, egg, lettuce, and tomato sandwich, gravy fries, and the New State Salad. The salad comes with bacon, bleu cheese crumbles, tomato, and house-made ranch dressing. Grab the garlic green beans, avocado paste, cheese tots, or cheese fries as sides.

The kid’s menu includes a smaller version of the cheeseburger, a grilled cheese sandwich, and a fruit cup. Finish your meal with the Carnegie Deli cheesecake with house-made strawberry sauce. New State Burgers & Spirits is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on most days. On Fridays and Saturdays, it closes at 10 p.m.

Tucker’s Onion Burgers

Tucker’s Onion Burgers is a local business with four locations in the Oklahoma City area. If onion is your favorite burger topping, this is definitely the joint for you. Single- and double-onion options include a standard hamburger, a turkey burger, a turkey cheeseburger, and a standard cheeseburger. The Mother Trucker is a heavier, three-patty burger with one onion layer and your choice of cheese. Vegetarians and vegans love the Impossible Burger, and it’s available with one or two layers of onions. 

If you prefer chicken with onions, go with Tucker’s Clucker. It comes with all-natural, hand-breaded chicken on a toasted brioche bun, your choice of toppings, and one or two layers of onions. The amazing onion burgers aren’t the only things drawing patrons to Tucker’s. Everyone loves the hand-dipped chocolate, vanilla, or strawberry shakes. Seasonal shake flavors are available as well. The Mexi-Cali burger comes with a spicy chipotle patty, queso fresco, beef chorizo, mushrooms, grilled jalapenos, caramelized onions, chipotle mayo, and a tortilla.
