Lexus NX F Sport vs Luxury

Small luxury SUVs have replaced sedans as the favorite vehicle type for drivers who value comfort but also want a car that’s fun to drive. The Lexus NX manages to stand out in a crowded small luxury SUV market, as it manages to blend cabin comfort and driving pleasure. Although it can do both, regardless of which configuration you choose, certain trim choices can make your NX, sportier or more comfortable. Keep reading to learn more about how to configure your Lexus NX to fit your style and personality.

Lexus NX Sport

Lexus NX Sport

The name is pretty self-explanatory. If you’re looking for a luxury SUV that looks and drives like a sports car, the NX F Sport Handling package is what you need.

Its standard engine is a 2.4-liter four-cylinder that can generate up to 275 horsepower. If you’re looking for better fuel economy, the hybrid version pairs a 2.5-liter gas-powered engine with an electric motor, resulting in 240 horsepower. There’s a third option that delivers both performance and fuel economy, though. The NX 450h+ uses the same 2.5-liter engine but pairs it with a more powerful electric motor pack, generating 304 horsepower. It also has a battery pack that helps the NX run solely on electric power for up to 37 miles.

One of the most important standout features of the Lexus NX F Sport is an adaptive sport suspension system that provides a smooth ride but can also tighten up to improve cornering. Multiple visual enhancements help distinguish the Lexus NX Sport from other configurations, including a special grille, various styling elements throughout the exterior, and black 20-inch alloy wheels. It also includes special sports seats that keep you firmly in place when taking corners at high speeds and adaptive headlights that move slightly to the left and right when you take a corner, to improve visibility.

Lexus NX Luxury

If you enjoy having a quick and agile vehicle but prioritize interior luxury and comfort, the Lexus NX Luxury package will probably be a better fit.

The two powertrains you can choose from are the 275-horsepower engine and the 240-horsepower hybrid, which are also available for the F Sport Handling package. It also comes with many comfort-oriented features, including a power liftgate, a spectacular sunroof, memory settings for the driver’s seat, ventilated front seats, and a power-adjustable steering column. The elegant leather upholstery gives the cabin an upscale vibe, helped by the adjustable ambient cabin lighting. Similarly to the F Sport Handling package, the Luxury version comes with 20-inch wheels but with a different design. It also has adaptive headlights.

There are also other features that you can add to your Lexus NX, for both the Luxury and Sport versions. They include a panoramic glass roof, a premium Mark Levinson 17-speaker sound system, a digital key that allows you to use your smartphone to unlock the vehicle and turn on the engine, a heated steering wheel, a wireless smartphone charger, and heated rear seats.

Safety Features

Regardless of whether you prefer comfort or sportiness, safety should also be high on your list of priorities in a vehicle. The Insurance Institute of Highway Safety has awarded the 2024 Lexus NX  maximum ratings in all the crash test categories, so you can be sure you’ll be as protected as possible in case of an unfortunate collision. However, cars nowadays are expected to help the driver notice any potential collision well before it materializes. The Lexus’ Safety System+ 3.0 advanced driver aids suite is standard on all NX configurations, including the F Sport and Luxury. It includes:

Forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking: Uses a set of sensors to detect movement in front of the Lexus and anticipate an imminent collision with another vehicle, object, or pedestrian. It even hits the brakes automatically if the driver doesn’t react on time.

  • Adaptive cruise control: It keeps the Lexus at a driver-set speed while cruising on the highway. It also automatically adjusts this speed to maintain a constant distance from the car in front.
  • Blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert: It warns the driver if another vehicle enters their blind spot while changing lanes or reversing.
  • Lane-keeping assistance: It detects the NX drifting out of its lane without the turn signal being activated and automatically steers it back into its initial spot.
  • Intersection collision mitigation: It detects an imminent collision when taking a left turn in an intersection and even hits the brakes automatically to mitigate the impact.

Interior Features

Every Lexus NX version features an upscale and comfortable interior. One of the contributing factors
to that is the excellent tri-zone automatic climate system, which helps everyone inside find and keep their desired cabin temperature. Another major reason why the Lexus NX cabin is an amazing place to be in is the effective noise insulation system, which manages to eliminate most road, wind, and engine noises, even at high speeds.

Interior technology is also fitting for a high-end vehicle. The large 14-inch touch-screen interface is sharp and intuitive, and the optional 17-speaker Mark Levinson audio system delivers an amazing mix of power and clarity and is a must-have for audiophiles. Wireless smartphone connectivity through Apple CarPlay or Android Auto is standard, and you can keep your phone charged at all times with the help of the optional wireless smartphone charger. The surround-view camera system is also a useful feature, especially when parking in tight locations.
