Also, owing to their dual-fuel nature, hybrids generally travel greater distances between refuels, thus provoking less range anxiety—the concern that the vehicle will run out of juice before reaching its destination or a charging point. Hybrids offer a more affordable entry point to green vehicle ownership as well, requiring smaller, less expensive battery packs than their all-electric counterparts.

If you’re looking for a vehicle that provides luxury and performance in addition to these environmentally friendly advantages, then Lexus may have what you need. With seven distinctive models and a broad range of price points, the 2022 hybrid lineup is sure to appeal to a wide variety of tastes.

UX 250h

The 2022 Lexus UX 250h is the automaker’s coziest hybrid model. Measuring 176.97 inches long, 72.44 inches wide, and around 60 inches tall, it fits neatly in the segment of subcompact crossover SUVs. You have your choice of three trims with the UX 250h: the base trim, the UX 250h F Sport, and the top-tier UX 250h Luxury. The F Sport is a performance-inspired model, while the Luxury gets you upgraded touches like LED-illuminated air vent knobs, a power rear door with kick sensors, and the Lexus Memory System.

All trim levels feature an I-4 engine that pairs with Lexus Hybrid Drive, a high-output, permanent-magnet, electric-drive motor. Together, these produce 181 horsepower and get you from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 8.6 seconds. In terms of fuel economy, you’re looking at 41 mpg in the city and 38 mpg on the highway.

NX 350h

The five-passenger luxury crossover NX 350h, available in one trim, is a step up in size from the UX, measuring 183.5 inches long, 73.4 inches wide, and 65.4 inches tall. A 9.8-inch touchscreen in the center stack is standard, though this is upgradeable to a massive 14-inch display.

Under the hood, you get a 2.5-liter I-4 engine with Lexus Hybrid Electric Drive. Together, these produce up to 240 horsepower and get you from 0 to 60 mph in 7.2 seconds. As for its fuel economy, the NX 350h gets an EPA-estimated 41 mpg in the city and 37 mpg on the highway, for a combined estimate of 39 mpg. This is almost 15 mpg higher than its gas-powered counterpart.

NX 450h+

The NX 450h+ is a plug-in hybrid available in either the base trim or the F Sport Handling trim. Both trims offer a five-person seating capacity and identical dimensions—73.4 inches long, 73.4 wide, and 65.4 inches tall. However, with the F Sport Handling model, you get the stark F Sport styling touches plus performance features like lateral performance dampers and Adaptive Variable Suspension. Lexus Interface with a 14-inch touchscreen is standard in both trims.

The NX 450h+ has a 2.5-liter I-4 engine with Lexus Plug-in Hybrid Electric Drive. This engine is capable of generating 304 horsepower, getting you from 0 to 60 mph in just six seconds. It has an all-electric range of 37 miles and gets an EPA-estimated 84 MPGe, so you can expect some serious reductions in your fuel expenses.

RX 450h

In the mid-size class of SUVs, Lexus offers the RX 450h in three trim levels: base, F Sport, and F450hL. The base and F Sport trims are identical in size—192.5 inches long, 74.6 inches wide, and 67.7 inches tall—while the 450hL is an extended-length model that provides an added 4 inches of length plus a third row. The base and 450hL are also available in the Black Line Special Edition.

Under the hood is a 3.5 liter V-6 engine that produces 308 horsepower and accelerates from 0 to 60 mpg in 7.9 seconds. The fuel economy estimates for the RX 450h are 31 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway.

ES 300h

With the ES 300h, we enter luxury sedan territory. It’s available in four trims. Aside from the base model, you have the F Sport, Luxury, and Ultra Luxury. The vehicle is impressively spacious. Its exterior dimensions—195.9 inches long, 73.4 inches wide, and 56.9 inches tall—translate into a cabin that comfortably seats five and provides almost 40 inches of legroom in the rear row.

The engine is a 2.5-liter I-4 that produces 215 total system horsepower. Its 0-to-60 time is around 8 seconds. The fuel economy is impressive at 43 mpg in the city and 44 mpg on the highway.

LC 500h

The LC 500h is a luxury coupe available in a single trim that measures 187.4 inches long, 75.6 inches wide, and 53 inches tall. Looking at its sleek, streamlined exterior, you can tell it’s a performance-oriented vehicle. The inside is elegant, offering heated and ventilated front-row seats and a standard 10.3-inch touchscreen.

The LC 500h is powered by a 3.5-liter V-6 engine with Lexus Multistage Hybrid Drive and 354 total system horsepower. With this, you’re looking at a 0-to-60 time of just 4.7 seconds. This vehicle achieves a fuel economy of 26 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highway—an average of 10 mpg greater than the gas-powered LC 500.

LS 500h

Capping Lexus’ 2022 hybrid lineup is the LS 500h, also available in a single trim. This model features Lexus Teammate, the automaker’s hands-free driver-assistance technology, as well as nifty touches like 20-inch split-10-spoke alloy noise-reduction wheels and a 23-speaker Immersion Reference Surround Sound system.

The engine is a 3.5-liter V-6 paired with two electric motors, which together generate 354 total system horsepower. With this, you can expect to go from 0 to 60 mpg in 5.2 seconds. You also get 22 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway.
