Family Amusement Parks in Oklahoma City, OK

If you’re already planning how you want to spend the summer, you’re not alone. Many families are starting to look for outdoor attractions for their summer vacation. Fortunately, Oklahoma City has many amusement parks and attractions to offer local families. If you’re still trying to plan out some exciting activities, check out these local options.

Six Flags Frontier City

Six Flags Frontier City is one of Oklahoma City’s biggest amusement parks. As its name implies, Frontier City is a Western-themed park. Since 1958, the park has offered a variety of thrills. Today, it boasts roller coasters, thrill rides, and a variety of family and children’s rides. The most popular rides at the park include the Diamondback roller coaster, the Gunslinger thrill ride, the Mystery River Log Flume water ride, and the Silver Bullet roller coaster.

This summer, Frontier City will host a Summer Vibes Festival in late May as well as an Independence Day celebration in July. That month, the park will also host a Flavor of the World event featuring specialty foods.

Celebration Station

Celebration Station is an arcade and amusement park featuring rides, games, and other attractions. The attractions are child- and adult-friendly, giving you the opportunity to let loose with your family this summer. Celebration Station also offers food for those times when you need a break from the activities. Meal options include chicken wings, pizza, funnel cakes, chicken fingers, and fries. You can even host a birthday party or family event at the park.

Attractions at Celebration Station include a small railroad, miniature golf, kid karts, and batting cages. You’ll have the opportunity to try bumper boats, go-karts, air hockey, driving games, alley rollers, and more.

Location:  509 Westline Drive, Oklahoma City.

Hours:  Noon to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, noon to 10 p.m. Friday, and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday.

Six Flags Hurricane Harbor

Six Flags Hurricane Harbor is a water park featuring a variety of water slides, lounging locations, and more. Water slides include the Bermuda Triangle, Big Kahuna, and Blackbeard’s Revenge, a 300-foot body slide. Caribbean Cove offers a variety of fun activities to participate in. If you’d just like to relax, check out Castaway Creek, a lazy river experience. Hurricane Bay is a family-friendly wave pool. If you prefer a tube ride, Raging Rapids might be right up your alley.

Family packages are available if you’d like to purchase meals, drinks, and more at the park at a more affordable price. You can also buy a Cooler Pass that allows you to bring a picnic to the park. Plus, you can rent a personal lounger or a cabana to make your trip extra relaxing.

Water Zoo Indoor Water Park

Water Zoo is one of the area’s most popular indoor water parks. In fact, it’s the first indoor water park in the state of Oklahoma. The park is open throughout the year and is always heated to 83 degrees Fahrenheit. While the park is a bit of a drive from the city, it’s one of the most popular destinations in Oklahoma. If you plan to visit throughout the summer, consider buying a seasonal or annual pass so you always have a place to spend the day.

There’s a lot to love about this park, including the fact that it has a retractable roof for an open-air atmosphere when the weather is nice. The park also offers three four-story water slides. Slideboarding, smaller water slides, and a small splash pool are available, and the park also offers food.

Orr Family Farm

Orr Family Farm is a family attraction. The farm opened in 2004, and it now hosts families, field trips, and other groups. The park features different activities depending on the season. In June, the farm offers summer camps for children in kindergarten through sixth grade. At the farm, children learn about animal care, agriculture, fishing, and more. The day camp lasts four days.

If you choose to visit with family, you might choose to enjoy a glamping experience. This experience allows you to stay in a teepee or Conestoga wagon. You’ll have access to several attractions after hours. Activities include fishing, ropes courses, tube rollers, animal feeding, campfires with s’mores, and a grill.

Cactus Jack’s Family Fun Center

Cactus Jack’s Family Fun Center is the oldest running arcade in the state of Oklahoma. Inside, you’ll find over 150 arcade games, plus pinball. The center also offers pool, skee-ball, and more. If you’re looking for an opportunity to enjoy some fun indoors, this arcade is a great way to get out of the heat after a long day of summer vacation fun.

Location:  1211 N. Council Road, Oklahoma City.

Hours:  11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday, and noon to 10 p.m. on Sunday.

Main Event

Main Event has an Oklahoma City location. This location offers activities, such as laser tag, bowling, and virtual reality games. Main Event also offers billiards, arcade games, story rooms, mini golf, gravity ropes, and multiball. Family-friendly escape rooms are available as well. Throughout the year, Main Event also hosts get-togethers to watch sporting events on screen. Plus, they offer a selection of food and refreshing beverages.

Location:  1441 W. Memorial Road, Oklahoma City.

Hours:  11 a.m. to 1 a.m. Monday, 11 a.m. to midnight Tuesday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. Friday, 9 a.m. to 2 a.m. Saturday, and 11 a.m. to midnight on Sunday.
