Blue Sage Studios

Blue Sage Studios is a full-service glassblowing studio. In addition to its live demonstrations and shop of its creations, the studio offers glassblowing classes. You learn to make an ornament, flower, or paperweight during your glassblowing session. Choose your item and the colors you want to use, and work with the instructor to make your own blown-glass keepsake. It’s important to note the items require approximately 12 hours to cool completely, meaning you’ll need to pick them up the next day, and Blue Sage Studios requires reservations for the glassblowing sessions.

Mix-Tape

Mix-Tape is a permanent immersive art installation. Presented by local arts collective Factory Obscura, this 6,000-square foot experience celebrates the 1980s tradition of creating mixtapes as a way to express yourself or share your music taste with others. The collective artists aimed to recreate the idea of an audio autobiography through this installation full of touchable art, interactive spaces, and beautiful lights and colors. While Mix-Tape is open Wednesday through Sunday for the whole family, it offers an adult-only night every third Thursday from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Myriad Botanical Gardens

Myriad Botanical Gardens is a 15-acre nature space in downtown Oklahoma City. Admission is free, and the sprawling gardens are home to various trees, flowers, and grasses native to Oklahoma. It also has art located throughout and hosts art exhibits that rotate seasonally. While a stroll in the park can be an excellent way to spend an afternoon or evening, be sure to check out its special events calendar when planning your visit. Myriad Botanical Gardens hosts various community events throughout the year, such as the weekly Sunday Twilight Concert Series during the summer.

RIVERSPORT OKC

RIVERSPORT OKC offers a variety of adventures that allow you to experience new outdoor activities, making this a great option if you and your partner are thrill-seekers. Choose from RIVERSPORT Adventures such as kayaking, whitewater rafting, tubing, or stand-up paddleboarding to enjoy time out on the water. If you and your partner are looking to try something new, such as snow skiing or rowing, consider trying one of the Discover Experiences. RIVERSPORT OKC also offers special events, such as its Floating Films series during the summer.

Put A Cork In It

Put A Cork In It is a winery located in the Bricktown entertainment district. If you’re looking to sample several of its wines, it offers wine tastings that allow you to try a variety of options from its menu. It also has plenty of indoor and outdoor seating for ordering a glass or sharing a bottle of wine with your partner. During the summer, consider enjoying your wine on the patio located right along the water.

Prairie Arts Collective

Prairie Arts Collective is a stained glass center offering a selection of artwork for purchase. It also sells stained glass supplies and repairs and restores stained glass pieces. Consider enrolling in one of the collective’s courses to learn to make the art yourself. While it offers a five-week beginner’s course, the collective often sponsors date night events where you and your partner each make your own stained glass art piece. These events, which it often advertises on its Facebook page, require reservations and charge a flat fee to cover the cost of all supplies and tools.

Salsa Maritza

Salsa Maritza offers salsa and bachata dance lessons for adults. 2014 World Salsa Champion Maritza Rodriguez, who has decades of experience with Latin dance, teaches the courses. The class schedule includes options for all experience levels. Newcomers may try the Absolute Beginner class, while dancers with some experience may choose Beginner or Immediate. Once you learn the style, consider showing off your new moves at one of the local dance events that Salsa Maritza participates in or hosts throughout OKC.

Michael Murphy’s Dueling Pianos

Michael Murphy’s Dueling Pianos combines some of the best parts of live music and comedy shows. Each show at this unique bar features a rotation of musicians who play from their repertoire of more than 1,000 songs, and the audience is in control with this completely request-driven set. Between each song, enjoy quips and banter among the musicians and with the crowd and sip on one of the establishment’s individual or designed-to-share bucket list signature cocktails. In advance, you can make your reservation for a night at Michael Murphy’s Dueling Pianos.

Ride OKC

Ride OKC gives you a new way to experience downtown Oklahoma City through guided bike tours. Husband-and-wife duo Ryan and Ashley began this company after going on guided bike tours when traveling and realizing the need for a similar service in OKC. Choose from one of its several bike tours to find the perfect one for you and your partner. For example, the Bikes + Brews Tour allows you to visit five local craft breweries, and the Art + Architecture Tour helps you learn more about the history of the city you call home.
